I'm an Argentinian. The bank establishment robbed me from my college fund
and my financial future as it was before 2001. Of course, both situations,
Argentina half a decade ago and zimbabwe today, are far far different
socially, economically, etc. However, one thing remains quite clear to me.
If you can't harbor discontent and anger into polital action, you have
chosen the wrong leader.
In the first week of 2002 we had three presidents in a row, we had voted for
none of them. They were simply there for one reason; each of them were to
divide the burden that a decade of Attila-the-hun- style neoliberal
economics had placed on our shoulders. Instead of one guy putting forward a
bunch of reforms, they hid behind their finger pointing and "it wasn't me,
it was the previous/next guy" press conference answers. We have no one to
try, no one to hold responsible, not even symbolically.
So what i say is; if tsvangirai can't or won't go all the way, find another
messiah. If not, you'll end up with a weak figure, handled by some grey
eminence, just like us.
